 Membership Restrictions Policy

Membership at The Youth and Recreation Center of East Central Illinois “The Rec” is a privilege. The safety of our members, employees, volunteers, guests and program participants is a primary concern of The Rec. Therefore, The Youth and Recreation Center of East Central Illinois “The Rec” reserves the right to deny access to the facilities or membership to any person who:

  • Is a registered sexual offender
  • Has pled guilty to or been convicted of any crime involving sexual abuse or criminal sexual conduct
  • Has been convicted of a felony involving violence
  • Behaves in a manner that threatens the well-being of employees, members and guests
  • Uses abusive or profane language with an employee, member or guest.

These restrictions apply to The Youth and Recreation Center of East Central Illinois “The Rec” facilities as well as locations where The Rec sponsors or operates programs, activities or events. The Youth and Recreation Center of East Central Illinois “The Rec” may, at its discretion, amend this policy as needed to protect members, employees, volunteers, and participating guests.

Fitness Center Age Restrictions

For your own safety and the safety of our members, you must be 14 years or older to use the fitness center. Ages 12 -13 are only permitted to use the Fitness Center with constant Parent/Guardian supervision and Assistance.  Ages 12-13 are not allowed to work out on their own in the fitness center.

Class Refunds and Program Credits

Refunds for class registration are only given if a class is canceled by the REC.

Check Policy

Your Personal checks are welcome here with valid identifications.  You agree that using a check as payment constitutes a contractual agreement. If your check is returned, it may be re-presented electronically or by paper draft and you will be responsible for any and all penalties, costs and incidental damages, collection costs allowed under law, including attorney’s fees, court costs, and taxes on any check that is returned. A return fee will be charged on any items that is returned by your bank and these fees may be collected electronically or by paper draft.  A list of state allowed return check fees is available at:


Medical/ Hospital Insurance

The REC does not provide insurance for its members, participants, or spectators. Each person visits and/or participates at his/her own risk and agrees to hold the REC blameless for any injury incurred.

Children under the age of 10

Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by and adult (age 18+) while in the Rec Center.

Use of the Front Desk phone

The REC must be able to conduct daily business and will no longer allow personal phone calls to be made from the front desk except for emergency. The front desk phone is a business only line. Please arrange for pick up times before arriving at the REC.

Theft and Vandalism

The REC will pay $200 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone caught stealing from or causing vandalism to the REC. The REC is not responsible for any lost of stolen personal items.

Cell Phone Usage

With the advancement of technology that allows picture taking, the REC Board has instituted a policy banning all cell phones from the REC locker rooms, restrooms, child care, and babysitting room. Please look for and obey the “No Cell Phone Usage” signs throughout the building.

Peanut Free Policy

In order to maintain a safe environment for all of our members, effective January 1, 2014, The REC playroom will be peanut free.  Please refrain from bringing any snacks for your child containing peanuts or peanut products into the playroom.
